Lekurs Castle

Lekurs Castle (Kalaja e Lëkurësit), or as it is more popularly known, Lekursi Castle, is a fortified structure built on a strategic hill, only two kilometers from Sarandë, overlooking the city. The Lëkurësit Castle (Kalaja e Lëkurësit) was built in the sixteenth century, probably by Sultan Suleyman who attacked Corfu and needed to control the Port of Sarandë and the road that connected it with Butrint. Locals favor the castle for its magnificent views over the harbor.
